Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XX Program Announcement! ”Così fan tutte”

The Seiji Ozawa Music Academy is pleased to announce the program for spring 2024.

The milestone 20th opera project shall present the opera Così fan tutte, composed by W.A. Mozart. This was the first opera that Academy Director Seiji Ozawa ever conducted abroad (at the 1969 Salzburg Festival), as well as the first work for which Diego Matheuz was involved in the selection process in his capacity as principal conductor of Seiji Ozawa Music Academy. Following Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni, this was the last opera of the prominent Mozart–da Ponte collaboration, and a splendid ensemble will portray the fickleness of love between two couples. This will be the second time for the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy to perform this opera, the first being in 2001.

Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Principal Conductor Diego Matheuz will lead the orchestra. The stage director will be David Kneuss, with sets and costumes designed by Robert Perdziola. This is the same team that presents La Bohème this year; we will use the production (staging, sets, costumes) that was premiered at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in 2014.

Cast and ticket information shall be announced at a later date. We invite you to look forward to these 2024 performances as well!
